You might not be able to stop the signal, but I am less resilient.

I was planning this ridiculously long entry including my much delayed review of Serenity (go see it!), plus reviews of Howl's Moving Castle and Pride and Predjudice but you've all been saved from my loquaciousness (is that even a word?) because I feel awful. Stupid cold. I was feeling so smug for staying healthy while the rest of the office went down with flus and this weird stomach bug that had everyone throwing up as well. So because I can't think straight, instead, I'm just going to rant about buses. That's right. Buses. Not travelling on them - although I do have issues - but the loss of the Routemaster buses in London. I know most of you won't care but the Routemaster buses have been in service over here for about fifty years. This article explains the situation a lot better than I ever could but from a personal viewpoint, I find the situation terribly sad. (And yes, I am finding it hard to believe that I'm getting emotional about a bus). One of the last three routes, the number 38, runs in my area. I was on one last night when I went to see Howl's Moving Castle. One of the wonderful things about the hop on/hop off system (apart from the stupid people who jump off when the bus is moving) is that if you miss your stop, you can jump off the next time the bus stops. I did that last night when we stopped at traffic lights. Not just that, they're beautiful (again with my disbelief that I'm talking about attractive buses). They just have that lovely curved, old fashioned look, I've seen them in so many TV programs and films and they're synonymous with London. Nowhere else has them and nowhere else will. The 38 goes this month. I'm going to miss it. I realise it's much too late now but if anyone happened to want to 'sign' the petition to keep them, just to make me happy, then please do. Thanks. Oh and talking about things that would make me happy, Serenity goes on general release today in the UK. I know there aren't that many Brits on my f-list and the ones that are are almost all Firefly fans anyway but remember to go see it, okay? In fact, if you see it at least three times before the 31st, then send your ticket stubs here and you get a free gift. If you're in North America or Down Under and you've not seen it yet (shame on you!) please do go. If you have seen it, go again ;) Home time in an hour twenty. Will be curled up in bed, feeling sorry for myself and watching Veronica Mars. Wish me better - I've got friends coming down and we're meant to be seeing Serenity again but I'd prefer not to annoy the entire screening by sneezing and snuffling through it all.
